Cleaning Instructions

The Electroforming I do is unique.  You will never see two pieces of art look the same.  This is because I strive to go well beyond the basic Electroforming process, and spend a lot of time with patina mixtures and color blending.  All of these take time, and adds many weeks to the process.  Think of the glass as a base canvas, the Electroformed copper as the supplementary canvas, and the patina work “Alchemist Magic”.  Starting in 2013, we offer two types of Electroformed art, each with their own simple instructions.

CK Naked:

The CK Naked series of Electroformed art is the easiest to care and handle. Since all CK Naked pieces come with a basic patina, they can be cleaned as you choose. The most popular methods are Isopropyl Alcohol/Salt, as well as soaking the inside of the glass with Citrus Degreaser. Please note if you choose to soak the entire piece in Citrus Degreaser, there is a high chance it will remove the natural patina finish from the copper, leaving you with a shiny copper coat.

All other CK Art (includes Customs and Official Collabs):

We have also perfected a process and technique which we have labeled “Pizzle Plate Technology”. Originally created and perfected by Big Pizzle – it is a time consuming process which is applied after the patinas and sealant work is completed. This process protects the copper and patina from further degradation, withstanding temperatures in excess of 500 degrees F, and is chemically resistant to cleaners. This process finally gives you the freedom to clean your Electroformed piece as you wish, something which has not been achieved before. All Electroformed pieces which do not fall under our CK Naked production line, will have the Pizzle Plate Technology, unless otherwise specified.

The most popular methods are Isopropyl Alcohol/Salt, as well as soaking the inside of the glass with Citrus Degreaser. If you choose to soak your piece in degreaser, please make sure to use the 14mm or 18mm glass stopper that comes with your piece. If any degreaser happens to touch the copper on the outside of the glass, simply rinse it off with warm water right away. The Pizzle Plate Technology can take quite a serious beating, however it is a protectant, and not some sort of magical armor.

Following these simple instructions will guarantee the longevity of your Electroformed piece.
